Beginning his career in the Berlin gallery scene after earning his degrees in Art History and Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University, James Michael Cardoso Shaeffer has organized numerous exhibitions with many of today’s most demanded artists throughout the world.

Trained as curator and art historian with more than a decade of experience working as Director at a number of galleries globally, he advises clients on both burgeoning and established artists. His specialties include post-war American and Conceptual Art, and has curated shows that featured a diverse spectrum of artists, such as Cy Twombly, Nicole Eisenman, Wolfgang Tillmans, Lutz Bacher and more.

Now based in New York City, James focuses on the US art market as well as secondary market acquisition at Tong Art Advisory.

Yitong Wang holds a master’s degree in Art History from the University of Chicago. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Art History from Franklin and Marshall College.

Prior to founding Tong Art Advisory in 2019, Wang has worked as translator, art critic and gallerist in New York, Beijing and Berlin.

Since 2011, Wang has been an ambassador of Chinese-based artists in the United States, promoting institutional recognition and placing works with private and public collections. She has also facilitated growing knowledge and numerous acquisitions of international artists among Chinese clients. Over the years, she has become a trusted and valued member of both the Chinese and Western art communities through her collaboration with galleries, institutions, press and corporate and private clients.

After finishing her bachelor's degree in visual communication in China, Una earned her Master's degree in Art Administration at University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. She also began her career in the art world at the same time, working at local galleries in Sydney and at the 18th Sydney Biennial.

In 2013, Una returned to Beijing and worked as General Manager Platform China Contemporary Institute for 5 years. She later joined Edouard Malingue Gallery as Associate Director and was stationed in Beijing.

In 2019, Una Yuning Sun completed her second Master’s degree in Marketing Management at the Business School at Renmin University in China.

In 2020, she joined Tong Art Advisory and has since helped her Chinese clientele acquire international artworks. She also manages real estate public art commission projects for the advisory firm.

Emma Thomas holds a BA in Art from Bard College, and an MFA from Columbia University. She is a New York City-based artist whose career began in printmaking and later developed toward metal fabrication.

 

Emma has worked as Artist Assistant for several important New York-based artists, organizing daily studio tasks and hands-on preparation of artworks for exhibitions and archives. She has taught printmaking at New York University and Columbia University. She also heads the Fellowship Program at the ELM Foundation.

 

At Tong Art Advisory, Emma assists in executive administration and project coordination. She oversees daily duties, archival management as well as internal and external communication.
